You typed “hypnosis in Jersey” into the search bar. Maybe you’re curious. Maybe you’ve already tried other things and nothing has worked. Either way, you’re here.
I’m Fabio Morus, a clinical hypnotherapist in St Helier, Jersey. I work with people who struggle with anxiety, phobias, insomnia, smoking, and those patterns that seem impossible to break on your own.
This page explains exactly what I do, who I help, and how to take the first step—no fluff, no exaggerated promises.
What Hypnosis Really Is (and Isn’t)
Let’s get this straight right off the bat. Clinical hypnosis isn’t stage entertainment. You won’t cluck like a chicken. You won’t lose control. You won’t pass out.
Hypnosis is a state of focused attention and deep relaxation—the same mental state you experience just before falling asleep. In this state, your subconscious becomes more receptive to positive suggestions. You remain fully conscious the entire time. You’re in control.
Think of it as guided concentration, not mind control.
The British Society of Clinical Hypnosis and the NHS recognize hypnotherapy as a valid complementary treatment, especially for anxiety, pain management, and behavior change.

Why people in Jersey come to see me
The reasons are more varied than you might think. These are the most common:
- Anxiety that has taken over your life. Generalized anxiety, social anxiety, health-related anxiety—hypnosis helps quiet the noise.
- Phobias you’ve learned to live with. Flying, needles, public speaking, heights. Life is too short to keep avoiding them.
- Sleep that won’t cooperate. Insomnia steals your nights and makes your days monotonous. Hypnosis addresses the pattern, not just the symptom.
- Habits you want to break. Smoking, nail-biting, emotional eating. You know they’re not good for you. Hypnosis helps you break them.
- Stress that has become your normal state. When “I’m fine” is just a phrase you say. Hypnosis resets your nervous system’s resting state.
- Performance. Sports, exams, presentations. If nervousness is getting in the way of what you’re capable of, hypnosis gives you back the edge.
I offer sessions in English and Portuguese. Being bilingual means you can do the work in the language that feels most natural to you—because therapy in a second language adds an extra layer of difficulty you don’t need.
What happens in a hypnosis session in Jersey
You arrive at my office in St Helier. We sit down like two adults having a conversation. I ask what brought you here, what you’ve already tried, and what you want to change.
Then I explain exactly what will happen during the hypnosis part. No surprises. No mystery.
The hypnosis itself: you sit comfortably, close your eyes, and follow my voice. Most people describe this as deeply relaxing—similar to the feeling just before falling asleep, but with a thread of awareness still present. I guide your mind toward the changes you’ve asked for.
Then, we talk. You tell me what you noticed. I explain what happened and what to expect in the coming days. Most people leave feeling lighter—some notice changes immediately, others over the course of the following week.
The first session lasts about 90 minutes. Follow-up sessions last 60 minutes.

Not in St Helier? Online sessions work too
If you’re in Jersey but can’t make it to St Helier—or are somewhere else entirely—I offer online hypnotherapy sessions. The same process, the same results, without the commute.
Online sessions are conducted via video call. You’ll need a quiet room, a comfortable chair, and a stable internet connection. The hypnosis part works exactly the same way—your brain doesn’t care if my voice comes through headphones or from across the room.
I have clients all over Jersey (St Brelade, St Clement, Grouville) and beyond who have never set foot in my office. The results are the same.
How many sessions will you need?
It depends on what you’re working on. Here’s a rough guide:
- Quitting smoking: Usually one session, sometimes two.
- Specific phobia: Two to four sessions.
- Anxiety or stress: Three to six sessions, with self-hypnosis practice in between.
- Insomnia: Three to five sessions.
- Deeply ingrained patterns: Six to eight sessions over two to three months.
You aren’t committing to anything in advance. We evaluate as we go. If it’s working, you’ll feel it.

Realistic Expectations (What Hypnosis Can and Cannot Do)
Hypnosis is a tool, not a magic wand. It works with your mind’s natural ability to change—neuroplasticity. This is real. It’s measurable. It’s the same mechanism that allows you to learn a language or form a habit.
But it isn’t instant for everyone. And it isn’t passive—the people who get the best results engage with the process. They practice self-hypnosis between sessions. They pay attention to what triggers their patterns.
If you expect to sit back while someone “fixes” you, hypnosis will disappoint you. If you’re willing to commit, be honest, and do a little work between sessions, it can change things on a level you never imagined possible.
Answers to Questions I Hear Often
Will I lose control during hypnosis? No. You remain conscious the entire time and can open your eyes whenever you want. Clinical hypnosis is a collaborative state, not one of surrender.
Can anyone be hypnotized? Most people can. The depth varies. What matters more than the “depth” is your willingness to engage. If you truly want change, your subconscious will follow.
Is hypnosis safe? Yes. Clinical hypnosis has been studied for decades. It is non-invasive, does not involve the use of medication, and poses no physical risks when conducted by a qualified professional.
How is this different from what I can find on YouTube? Hypnosis recordings on YouTube are generic. They weren’t made for you. A session with a hypnotherapist is tailored to your specific mind, your specific patterns, and your specific goals. That’s the difference between a map and a guided tour.
Do I need a referral from my primary care doctor? No. You can schedule directly. If you’re already seeing a primary care doctor or therapist, I’ll be happy to coordinate with them.
The First Step
If you’re reading this, you’ve already taken the first step. The next one is to get in touch.
We’ll have a brief conversation—at no cost, with no obligation. I’ll ask what you’re dealing with, explain how hypnosis can help, and tell you honestly if it’s a good option for you. It isn’t for everyone.
